Grok Bot weekly usage limit: why it runs out and what to do

Why Grok Bot stops at 100 percent, what drains usage, where to see the reset time, and the spend settings to set before you leave routines running.

◈Key Takeaways (5)
  • •When included usage hits 100 percent and no extra usage is available, Bots stop until the weekly reset.
  • •Usage is metered in agent steps and tokens, so long chats and browser sessions cost the most.
  • •On The X Subscription Grok Bot shares one weekly pool with Grok and Cursor; legacy Cursor plans have a separate Grok Bot pool.
  • •The app shows your level and reset time under Settings, Usage and Billing.
  • •No absolute weekly figure is published; set on-demand and monthly limits deliberately.

Every plan has a weekly included allowance. When it reaches 100 percent and extra usage is off or spent, your Bots stop answering until the next reset. Check the meter before assuming something is broken.

What counts#

Usage is metered in agent steps and tokens, not messages. These cost the most:

  • long conversations that carry a lot of history
  • long computer or browser sessions
  • multi-step agent work and Bot-to-Bot messages
  • routines that run often

Which plan changes the answer#

Plan How Grok Bot usage works
The X Subscription (Premium, Super, Ultra) One weekly pool shared across eligible Grok and Cursor products; no separate Grok Bot allowance (Cursor staff, October 20)
Legacy Cursor plans A separate weekly Grok Bot pool; overflow bills from the shared on-demand pool

Allowances do not stack: a Cursor plan plus a linked SuperGrok or X Premium+ subscription gives you whichever grants more, not both. SpaceXSI publishes tiers only relative to each other, not as absolute weekly figures, so we state no numbers. See pricing for the plans.

Where to see it#

Settings, Usage and Billing shows your included usage and the reset time (since 0.63.0). Since the October 11 release the percentage means used, so 80 percent is 80 percent gone.

What helps#

  1. Keep conversations focused and start a new chat for unrelated work.
  2. Avoid long browser sessions when a plugin can do the job.
  3. Space out routines and keep them to what you need.
  4. Decide on-demand, Auto Top-up and the monthly additional usage limit before any routine runs unattended.
  5. Watch the meter so 100 percent is not a surprise.

Our full usage guide covers the settings and a worked example.

Frequently asked questions#

Does Grok Bot have its own usage allowance?#

It depends on your plan. On The X Subscription there is no separate Grok Bot allowance; it draws on the same weekly pool as Grok and Cursor. Legacy Cursor plans keep a separate Grok Bot weekly pool, and overflow bills from the shared on-demand pool.

When does the limit reset?#

Weekly. Since version 0.63.0, Settings, Usage and Billing shows your included usage and when it resets. The exact day is not fixed on Cursor's billing page, so read it in the app.

What uses the most?#

Usage is metered in agent steps and tokens, not messages. Long chats, long browser sessions and Bot-to-Bot messages cost the most.
