Best AI Prompts for Suno Music (2026)
Prompts for Suno music#
Five starting points#
These prompts ask a chat model to write the style text you then paste into Suno. They cover the style field, not lyric craft, which has its own page on songwriting prompts.
Act as a Suno prompt writer. Write a style prompt for melodic and progressive house at 124 BPM: warm analog synth pads, a hypnotic bassline, four-on-the-floor drums, and ethereal, melancholic female vocals. Give me one short comma-separated line, then a second version that is more minimal. The mood to match, described without naming artists: [DESCRIBE YOUR MOOD].Act as an audio prompt engineer. Write a Suno style prompt for cinematic EDM at 128 BPM with brass swells, pulsing synth arpeggios, a festival-style drop and soaring harmonic vocals. Then list five instruments or sounds I should put in Suno's Exclude field so the drop stays clean. The track is for: [DESCRIBE YOUR USE, e.g. trailer, game, workout video].Act as a sound designer. Write a Suno style prompt for deep house at 122 BPM: warm sub-bass, subtle vinyl crackle, atmospheric chord stabs and chopped soulful vocal fragments, in an intimate club mix. Offer three alternative wordings that change only the vocal treatment, so I can compare them side by side.Act as an electronic music producer. Write a Suno style prompt for progressive trance at 132 BPM with layered pads, soaring melodic leads and a driving pulse. Then map my lyrics to song sections, such as intro, verse, build and drop, and mark where the energy should rise: [PASTE YOUR LYRICS].Act as an audio generation director. Write a Suno style prompt for ambient synthwave at 110 BPM with retro analog synths, heavy reverb, a gentle pulse and a moody, atmospheric feel. Keep it instrumental, and give me a one-line title idea that matches the mood of [DESCRIBE THE SCENE OR PROJECT].What to add to any Suno prompt#
- Genre and tempo in plain terms. Suno's music glossary lists genres such as Electronic/EDM, Hip-Hop, Folk and Ambient, and defines tempo in beats per minute, so name both.
- Instruments, vocal style and production words. The same glossary has sections on instrumentation, vocal techniques and production effects to borrow from.
- Your own lyrics, if you have them. Suno's Custom mode has a space for them, and Suno says you keep ownership of original lyrics you enter.
- Things to leave out. List unwanted instruments in the Exclude field under Advanced Options in Custom mode.
- A reason to iterate. Google's guide says prompt design is iterative, and Suno gives a Style Influence slider (Loose to Strong) and a Weirdness slider (Safe to Chaos, 50% is normal) to move between tries.
- A model choice. Suno lists v6, v6-wild and v6-mini and suggests trying all three to see what fits; v6-wild pushes further from the prompt.
A worked example#
Act as a Suno prompt writer. Write a style prompt for deep house at 122 BPM:
warm sub-bass, subtle vinyl crackle, atmospheric chord stabs and chopped soulful
vocal fragments, in an intimate club mix. Offer three alternative wordings that
change only the vocal treatment, so I can compare them side by side.
A good result for this prompt has:
- One comma-separated line per version, short enough to read at a glance, with genre and 122 BPM stated first.
- Three versions that differ only in the vocal treatment, so the comparison is fair.
- No artist names or reference tracks you cannot clear, and no claims about what Suno will output.
- Instruments you can actually audition, with a note on what to add to Exclude if one dominates.

Limits of this guide#
This page covers how to phrase the style input and what Suno and the Copyright Office say about rights. We could not confirm from Suno's help pages any character limit for the style field or any official bracketed-tag syntax, and the music glossary does not define one, so we do not give either. We did not generate audio with these prompts or compare their results. This is general information, not legal advice; Suno's terms of service and your local copyright office decide your actual position.

Frequently asked questions
What are the best AI prompts for Suno music?
For Suno, write the style as a short list of genre, tempo, instruments, vocal and mood, and keep your own lyrics in the lyrics field. Then check your plan: Suno says free-plan songs cannot be monetized, and prompts alone do not earn copyright.
Can I use Suno songs commercially?
Suno says songs made on the free plan are for personal, non-commercial use and cannot be monetized, while songs downloaded during a paid subscription are granted commercial use rights. Suno adds that this does not guarantee copyright protection, which your national copyright office decides.
How do I stop an instrument or sound appearing in a Suno track?
In Custom mode, open Advanced Options and list the unwanted instruments or sounds in the Exclude field. Suno also offers a Style Influence slider, from Loose to Strong, that sets how closely the result follows your style input, so try raising it if results drift.
