Write an epic text-to-image prompt depicting an autonomous humanoid robotics lab in Shenzhen, featuring intricate mechanical sub-assemblies, dramatic industrial lighting, and cinematic depth of field.Habits that follow the documentation#
- Name the subject, setting, lighting and mood, and add a medium or camera style where it matters.
- Prefer describing what should appear over listing exclusions; use a tool's exclusion parameter, such as Midjourney's
--no, when you need one. - Use specific numbers instead of plural words.
- Draft at low quality or small size first, then regenerate the winner at full quality.
- Keep a log of the model, version, prompt and settings, because results change across versions.

Key context and caveats#
Image models respond to wording differently, and the vendors publish guidance rather than recipes. Midjourney's Prompt Basics says short and simple prompts typically generate the best images, suggests considering subject, medium, environment, lighting, colour, mood and composition, and says to describe what you want instead of what you do not, because mentioning no cake might still produce a cake. It also says parameters belong at the end of the prompt.
OpenAI's image guide has no prompting-tips section. It documents limits: complex prompts may take up to two minutes, text rendering can struggle with precise placement and clarity, and composition control can be imprecise. Its image parameters include quality levels, with low suggested for quick drafts.

Direct answer
What are the best AI prompts for text-to-image generation?
No single prompt is best for image generation. Midjourney says short, simple prompts typically work best, while OpenAI documents limits on text placement and composition control. Test several wordings on each model and inspect the results at full size.

Model names, features and limits change often. The prompts below are our own untested starting points, and we did not measure which wording performs best. Facts are as printed on each provider page on the date shown.

Frequently asked questions
What are the best AI prompts for text-to-image generation?
No single prompt is best for image generation. Midjourney says short, simple prompts typically work best, while OpenAI documents limits on text placement and composition control. Test several wordings on each model and inspect the results at full size.
How long should a text-to-image prompt be?
It depends on the tool. Midjourney says short and simple prompts typically generate the best images and that long lists of instructions can confuse the process, while fewer details give more variety but less control. Other models handle longer descriptions, so test lengths with each one.
Why does the AI ignore part of my image prompt?
Models can miss details. OpenAI says GPT Image can struggle with precise text placement and may have difficulty placing elements precisely. Midjourney advises describing what you want instead of what you do not, using a specific number such as three cats, and putting parameters at the end.
