Prompts for smart contract reviews#
Five starting points#
5 promptsAct as a lead smart contract security auditor. Perform a rigorous vulnerability analysis on [PASTE YOUR SOLIDITY SMART CONTRACT], checking for reentrancy attacks, integer overflows, and unauthorized access vectors.Act as an expert blockchain security engineer. Write a comprehensive Slither and Mythril static analysis script configuration for automated smart contract security auditing in CI/CD pipelines.Act as a principal DeFi protocol architect. Review [PASTE YOUR TOKEN VESTING SMART CONTRACT], identifying gas optimization opportunities and logical edge cases in time-lock mechanisms.Act as a Web3 security researcher. Formulate a detailed threat model and fuzzing test suite using Foundry/Echidna for an algorithmic stablecoin and liquidity staking contract.Act as an expert smart contract auditor. Provide secure, gas-optimized code patches for permission control vulnerabilities and access control flaws in a multi-signature wallet implementation.A checklist to pair with the prompts#
The OWASP Smart Contract Top 10 (2025 edition) lists access control vulnerabilities, price oracle manipulation, logic errors, lack of input validation, reentrancy attacks, unchecked external calls, flash loan attacks, integer overflow and underflow, insecure randomness and denial of service attacks. Ask the model to walk through each category for your contract, then verify its answers with tools and tests.
The older SWC Registry is a useful reference but says on its own page that it is no longer actively maintained and has not been thoroughly updated since 2020, so do not treat it as current.

Key context and caveats#
Smart contracts are hard to fix after deployment, so the stakes of a missed flaw are high. ethereum.org's security page says testing contracts extensively improves security, that unit testing alone is minimally effective, that testing will not uncover every flaw, and that audits should not be treated as a silver bullet.
The documented tooling is deterministic and should do the detecting. Slither describes itself as a Solidity and Vyper static analysis framework written in Python. Mythril describes itself as a symbolic-execution-based security analysis tool for EVM bytecode. Our analysis: use a model to explain, prioritise and draft tests from their output, not to replace them.
At a Glance#
| Layer | Role | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Slither | Static analysis for Solidity and Vyper | Finds known patterns only |
| Mythril | Symbolic execution on EVM bytecode | Not a complete audit |
| Tests | Behaviour under expected and hostile inputs | Will not uncover every flaw |
| Independent audit | Human expert review | Not a silver bullet |
| AI prompts | Explain, prioritise, draft tests | Can miss or invent issues |

Direct answer
What are the best AI prompts for smart contract security reviews?
AI can help you read smart-contract code, but it cannot replace analysis tools or an audit. Pair prompts with static analysis such as Slither, test thoroughly and get an independent review, since ethereum.org says audits are no silver bullet and testing will not uncover every flaw.
How we sourced this
Model names, features and limits change often. The prompts below are our own untested starting points, and we did not measure which wording performs best. Facts are as printed on each provider page on the date shown. This is not a security audit and not advice for contracts that hold value.

Frequently asked questions
What are the best AI prompts for smart contract security reviews?
AI can help you read smart-contract code, but it cannot replace analysis tools or an audit. Pair prompts with static analysis such as Slither, test thoroughly and get an independent review, since ethereum.org says audits are no silver bullet and testing will not uncover every flaw.
Can AI audit a smart contract?
It can help you read code, list questions and explain findings from tools, but it is not an audit. A missed flaw can be costly, so run static and symbolic analysis, test extensively and have independent auditors review any contract that holds value, as ethereum.org advises.
Which tools should I run alongside an AI review?
Slither is a static analysis framework for Solidity and Vyper, and Mythril is a symbolic-execution tool for EVM bytecode. Use them with unit tests and the OWASP Smart Contract Top 10 as a checklist, then give their output to the model for explanation and prioritisation.
