Grok Bot went from beta launch to a bundled, multi-plan product in under three months. It launched on August 11, 2026, gained Cursor's infrastructure three days later, and since October 12 has been sold as part of The X Subscription. Meanwhile its maker changed names twice and the service logged dozens of incidents. This page puts every confirmed date in one place.
Dates come from SpaceXSI announcements, the official changelog, Cursor's help and forum, and the status history. Incident times are UTC unless marked ET.

The company: from xAI to SpaceXSI#
The maker has carried three names this year. SpaceX announced on February 2, 2026 that it had acquired xAI, and the business then operated as SpaceXAI. In early October Elon Musk said it would become SpaceXSI; by October 11 x.ai's page titles, articles and X handle (@SpaceXSI) used the new name. The site footer still names the legal entity as SpaceXAI LLC.
The other structural change came right after launch. According to the company's own news post, Cursor became part of the company on August 14, 2026. That is why Grok Bot accounts, billing and status pages have run through Cursor, and why the what is Grok Bot explainer describes it as running on Cursor's cloud.
Through every rename, the product stayed Grok Bot.
Launch and the plan story#
Grok Bot was never sold on its own. It started as a beta on August 11, and on August 26 SpaceXSI added it to SuperGrok, Cursor Pro and all Cursor Teams plans. Enterprise availability was announced on September 3. By October 11, Cursor's help also listed seats on self-serve Grok Business plans.
October 12 reset the lineup. The X Subscription combined Grok, Grok Bot, Cursor and X Premium into one plan, launching for new customers that day and rolling out globally over the following days. Grok Bot is included on Premium ($30 a month), Super ($100) and Ultra ($200), and on team seats at the same prices; Free and the $8 Plus tier do not include it. Existing Cursor, SuperGrok, X Premium+ and Grok Business plans continue unless the subscriber switches.
Two later moves matter for anyone starting now. On October 27, version 0.78.1 replaced the in-app free-trial offer with Get Grok Bot with a unified plan. By October 28, SpaceXSI's docs described a referral program that gives a referred friend a two-week Premium trial. Our pricing guide covers every tier.

Releases: the shipping cadence#
Grok Bot ships several times a week. Between 0.57.0 on September 18 and 0.78.1 on October 27 the minor version number climbed from 57 to 78, and most dated entries bundle several versions; October 22 alone rolled up 0.72.0 through 0.75.2.
Three shifts stand out. Late September built the team layer: Team Bots, managers, Slack approvals. Early October reshaped the app: Connect Apps, auto-updates, the proactive primary Bot. Late October moved Bots from drafting to acting: Vault (0.75.5), chat-triggered sends, a Permissions screen (0.77.0) and shopping with order tracking (0.78.1). The release-by-release detail is in what's new.
Outages: the pattern#
Two clusters dominate. September 16–18 was the longest stretch: the first forum report came at 11:06 UTC on the 16th, about three hours before the status incident opened, and staff said on September 17 that service was back after about 24 hours of disruption. October 3–14 was the densest, with status incidents on seven of those twelve days and routines missed on October 3, 8 and 13 that were not replayed.
The broadest single outage ran from 23:39 UTC on October 23 to 00:20 on October 24, when Grok models were unavailable across Grok Bot, cursor.com, the IDE, the CLI, Cloud Agents and Automations. Since October 26, live status sits on status.x.ai; our status guide explains how to read it.
How to use this timeline#
Match a problem to a date before you change anything:
- Note when it started, in UTC.
- Find the row. If an outage covers that window, wait instead of resetting.
- Check routines due in that window. Missed runs are generally not replayed; run them by hand.
- Check your version. Many symptoms have a fix in a specific release, so update first.
- If your Bots vanished after switching plans, that is an account split, not an outage (staff, October 21). Do not reset or buy a second plan; see sign-in errors.
Our take#
Grok Bot is moving faster than its own documentation: names, plans and status pages all changed within weeks, and official sources disagreed for days at a time. Treat any date older than a month as history, not current fact, and check the changelog and status.x.ai before you trust a workflow that depends on a specific behaviour.
Frequently asked questions#
When did Grok Bot launch?#
Grok Bot launched in beta on August 11, 2026. Three days later, on August 14, Cursor became part of the company, and Grok Bot runs on Cursor's cloud and accounts. On August 26 it was added to SuperGrok, Cursor Pro and all Cursor Teams plans, and Enterprise availability followed on September 3.
Is it xAI, SpaceXAI or SpaceXSI?#
All three are the same company at different points in 2026. SpaceX announced its acquisition of xAI on February 2, 2026, after which the company traded as SpaceXAI. In early October it rebranded as SpaceXSI; by October 11 x.ai used the new name, while the legal entity remained SpaceXAI LLC. The product name Grok Bot never changed.
When did Team Bots become Shared Bots?#
Team Bots shipped in version 0.61.0 on September 26, 2026 and were announced as a public beta for Teams and Enterprise on September 28. By October 28 the official docs and Cursor's help had renamed them Shared Bots, while the October 26 changelog still said Team Bot, so you may see both names for a while.
What was the worst Grok Bot outage so far?#
By duration, September 16 to 18, when forum users reported around 24 hours of disruption and the status page logged incidents of up to about 6.5 hours. By breadth, October 23 to 24, when Grok models were unavailable for about 40 minutes across Grok Bot, cursor.com, the IDE, the CLI, Cloud Agents and Automations.
When did Grok Bot's pricing change?#
On October 12, 2026, with The X Subscription. New customers now get Grok Bot on Premium at $30 a month, Super at $100 or Ultra at $200. Before that, it came with SuperGrok, Cursor plans and later Grok Business seats; those existing plans continue. On October 27, the in-app free-trial offer was replaced.
