Grok Bot's current version is 0.78.1, released October 27, 2026. The releases since September 29 added a Vault for logins and cards, shareable Pages, a Bot email address, a single Permissions screen and shopping with order tracking. Below, each release is reduced to what changed and what you should do about it.
The changelog bundles several versions into one dated entry and does not say which change landed in which build. We follow its grouping, paraphrase its notes, and add our own read on impact. We have not tested these features ourselves.

| 0.78.1 (with 0.78.0) | Oct 27 | Product cards, Buy now, order tracking, Shop Pay in Vault, three subscription templates, Shared Bots limited to Only you | Shopping is now a first-class job; every order is still an approval unless a saved card skips it |

0.78.1 (October 27): shopping, subscriptions and tighter sharing#
This release turns buying into a card-based flow. Search results show as cards with photo, rating, price, store and up to two badges; three or four results scroll as a carousel. On a product page, in-stock options come first and options no store carries are greyed out. Buy now starts an order you approve, and the Bot then follows the shipment and tells you when it ships and arrives.
Payments and subscriptions:
- Shop Pay connects from the Vault's Payments tab and can become the method Bots try first. It sits alongside Link and X Money.
- Three new official templates: Try it, don't pay for it starts a free trial and cancels it (or reminds you) before billing; Find unused subscriptions cancels plans you pick; Watch subscription prices checks renewal prices.
- Bots can cancel a subscription or look up its price and renewal date, and confirm with you before changing anything.
For teams, a Shared Bot can now be restricted to Only you, and managers can store logins in a Shared Bot's own Vault under Configure → Tools. That conflicts with Cursor's secrets help, which still said on October 29 that Vault is not supported on shared Bots. Our Shared Bots guide tracks the discrepancy.
Two more changes worth knowing. The in-app free-trial offer is gone, replaced by Get Grok Bot with a unified plan (see pricing). And routines created in a new Bot's first chat now run in your time zone rather than UTC, which explains routines that fired hours off.
0.77.0 (October 26): the permissions and payments release#
This is the longest entry of the month, with well over a hundred items. Most new features need 0.75.2 or later; the 1Password change and the new typeface need 0.68.0 or later.
What to look at first#
- Settings → Permissions. Every Auto-review rule is listed under Always Ask and Allow without Asking, each with an Add Rule button. Audit it once using our permissions guide.
- Vault → Payments. Pick which payment method Bots try first. You still approve each purchase, but entries now carry a Hints field telling Bots when to use them. Bots try Vault logins and cards before a password manager.
- 1Password. It now connects without a shared vault: you approve each login in 1Password, which fills it in the Bot's browser without the Bot seeing it.
- Import Memory, in Settings, copies your preferences and context from another AI assistant into your primary Bot. There is still no one-click export of a Bot's memory.
Other changes: approval cards stay open 30 minutes instead of 10; one card can step through several questions with a Your own answer option; Bots stop emailing addresses that hard-bounced; every one-to-one email from a Bot's own address carries an unsubscribe link. The Bot's computer also stays up when memory runs low, so fewer turns end with Couldn't Reach Grok Bot's Computer.
Admins gain a switch to limit Bot sharing to admins and a three-way choice for template publishing: public, team only, or off.
0.75.5 and 0.75.8 (October 23–24): fewer cards, stronger stops#
0.75.5 introduced the Vault and email forwarding, and changed how sending works. An email or Slack message you ask for in chat now goes out once Auto-review allows it; sends from routines and other turns still wait as drafts. If you only want a draft, say so. Denying a card now makes the Bot stop that action until your next message. Routine limits rose to 300 runs an hour in total (from 100) and 200 per routine.
0.75.8 lets a Bot offer to add, change or remove one of your Auto-review rules on a card you confirm. Auto-review also takes a second look before showing a card, so you see fewer of them. Other fixes: a connector whose sign-in lapsed shows Authenticate instead of Connected; connectors such as X pick up new tools without a reconnect; and people outside a Shared Bot's share list, teammates included, lose access until the owner adds them.
0.75.2 (October 22): Pages, video and new cards#
The biggest bundle of the month, covering 0.72.0 through 0.75.2.
- Pages: reports, memos and dashboards that you edit together or have the Bot keep current. Shared Pages are listed on your dashboard, where you can unshare or delete them. See our Pages guide.
- Video: Bots create videos from a description or an image. The notes give no cost, so watch your weekly usage meter.
- Payments: Shop Pay at checkout, X Money in one tap, and a card to choose how to pay.
- Gmail and Calendar: attachments, reply all, forwarding notes, label colors, and multi-event Calendar edits in one step.
- Routines can read the Bot's inboxes and show a Reconnect card (at most once a day) when a connector is signed out.
- Deletion: deleting a Bot permanently erases its conversations, memory, routines and attachments and removes its Slack app.
0.69.0 to 0.71.2 (October 11–14): email, X and bigger files#
The October 11 entry spans five versions. Bots can claim their own address at mail.grokbot.com (one per account, permanent; mail from it waits on a draft card). They can search public X and read posts and profiles without an X account. Apps such as Figma, Notion and Canva can appear as interactive cards in chat, and Bots can pay with X Money or Stripe Link.
Two safety additions: before an irreversible action like sending, posting, buying or deleting, the Bot checks your messages for approval, and it asks before passing on data from a bank or brokerage connector. These are behaviours, not settings, so keep Ask first rules in place.
0.71.2 (October 14) raised attachments to 20 per message (from 6) with a 200 MB total, files to 250 MB and videos to 1 GB. Bots can use 200 plugin skills instead of 24, send from tagged addresses like name+shop@, and notify your Mac or Windows PC instead of your phone while you work there.
0.63.0 to 0.68.1 (September 29 – October 7): the groundwork#
- Marketplace to Connect Apps in three steps: sidebar button renamed (0.60.0, September 26), plugin-only listings (0.63.0), full rename with templates moved to the web (0.67.0). Templates now live at x.ai/bot/marketplace.
- Updates: Automatic Updates on by default (0.65.0); downloads resume after sleep (0.66.0).
- Shared Bots: Slack Review an action cards (0.63.0), managers (0.64.0), voice chat (0.65.0), user-group mentions (0.68.1). Since 0.68.0 a Shared Bot cannot be a primary Bot.
- Reliability: a hung Bot stops itself with a note (0.66.0); Stop ends a stuck step in about 30 seconds and the browser abandons a stuck page after 25 seconds (0.68.1). The Bot's screen grew to 1920 × 1200 from 1280 × 800.
- Email: send-as addresses (0.68.0); formatted email and Spam-folder search (0.68.1); a per-Bot Disable drafts switch (0.64.0).
One open issue: no release through 0.75.5 mentions the October 5 forum report of a Secure Form password showing in a page snapshot. Until Cursor confirms a fix, type passwords on the Bot's screen yourself, because every Bot shares the same computer and browser.
Beyond the changelog#
Several changes happened outside the release notes. On October 12 SpaceXSI launched The X Subscription, one plan covering Grok, Grok Bot, Cursor and X Premium. On October 20 and October 27 it published case studies from its own support and sales teams; those are vendor accounts, not results we measured. On October 22 it announced a Partner Network. On October 26 Cursor's status page moved to status.x.ai (see status). By October 28 the docs had renamed Team Bots to Shared Bots, added a Vault page and published a referral program.
Earlier, on September 21, SpaceXSI announced Grok 4.7. It did not say Grok Bot switched to it.
The full dated record lives in our timeline.
After you update: a five-minute checklist#
Run through this whenever the app installs a new version:
[ ] Note the version number the app reports
[ ] Settings → Permissions: re-read Always Ask / Allow without Asking
[ ] Vault: remove any card you want to approve per purchase
[ ] Vault → Payments: confirm which method Bots use first
[ ] Connectors: anything showing "Authenticate"? Sign in again
[ ] Routines: confirm time zone and that paused ones are back on
[ ] Shared Bots: check share lists if a teammate lost access
[ ] Drafts: confirm drafts are still on for Bots you don't fully trust
Common mistakes after an update:
- Accepting an Auto-review rule card mid-chat without reading it. Rules persist.
- Assuming "draft only" is the default for chat requests. Since 0.75.5 it is not.
- Saving a card in Vault and expecting to approve every charge. Saved cards can skip the prompt.
Our take#
October turned Grok Bot from an assistant that drafts into one that sends, signs in and pays. That is useful, but every new convenience (Vault, chat-triggered sends, rule cards) widens what a Bot does without stopping. Update promptly for the reliability fixes, then spend five minutes on the Permissions screen before you let a Bot near your cards.
Frequently asked questions#
What is the latest Grok Bot version?#
Version 0.78.1, in the changelog entry dated October 27, 2026, which also covers 0.78.0. It adds product cards for shopping, Buy now with your approval, order tracking, Shop Pay in the Vault and three subscription templates. Before it came 0.77.0 on October 26 and 0.75.8 on October 24.
How do I turn off Grok Bot automatic updates?#
Go to Settings, then Updates. Version 0.65.0 (September 30) switched Automatic Updates on by default, so the desktop app restarts itself to install an update while you are away. With it off, you install updates by hand from the same screen. The Bot's cloud computer has its own separate Update control.
What is Vault in Grok Bot?#
Vault is a section of Settings, added in 0.75.5 on October 23, where you store logins, cards and contact details so Bots can sign in and check out. Cursor's help says Bots never see the saved secret values, but every Bot on your account can use every item, and no setting forces a Bot to ask before using a saved card.
Where did Bot templates go in the Grok Bot app?#
They moved to the web. Version 0.63.0 (September 29) limited the in-app Marketplace to plugins, and 0.67.0 (October 2) renamed it Connect Apps. Templates now live on the web Marketplace at x.ai/bot/marketplace, and since the October 11 release a Bot can also find a fitting template and link it in chat.
Does Grok Bot use Grok 4.7?#
Unconfirmed. SpaceXSI announced Grok 4.7 on September 21, 2026 and said it was trained to understand the Grok Bot harness, but listed it for Cursor and Grok Build only. A Cursor staff member said the same day that Grok Bot has no model picker and Cursor does not publish which model it serves.
